Within three years of their formation, the Armonia Theatre Chorus
have established themselves as one of South Africa’s finest choral ensembles.

The Italian word “Armonia” directly translates to the word “harmony”. The Armonia Theatre Chorus is an independent ensemble comprised of singers dedicated to promoting the art of choral singing, opera and orchestral-choral repertoire both locally and internationally.

Membership is subject to a strict audition process in order to maintain the highest possible standards of artistic excellence. The choir presently consist of ± 35 singers, varying from full-time students to working adults, who represents professions of music, law, engineering, education, health care and many more.

The choir’s repertoire includes a wide range of genres that ranges from music composed in the Middle Ages, right through to 20th century compositions. Over the past two years the choir has been identified as one of the leading operatic choruses in Gauteng where it has performed in performances of Don Giovanni, Tosca, La Traviata, The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, and The Barber of Seville. We also regularly perform with the Gauteng Philharmonic Orchestra, the Pretoria Symphony Orchestra and the Sempre Opera Instrumental Ensemble and soloists.

The Armonia Theatre Chorus Rehearses on Wednesday evenings at the Brooklyn Theatre in Menlo Park, Pretoria. Please visit our Facebook page for upcoming events or feel free to contact us for audition information, we would love to hear from you!
